Cloud Summary 13/10/2011
1. Cloud computing as a computational paradigm offers obvious cost saving benefits and access to computational power and services that are otherwise too much for second/third tier cities.
2. Cloud Computing enables
- Framework for more effective feedback system (e.g. more efficient/intelligent taxation system through monitoring resource usage e.g. footprint instead of purely based on profits).
- Management systems that can dynamically allocate resource to increase overall efficiency, e.g. Singapore system of intelligent reallocation of traffic by integrating road traffic, rail, and bus systems so one system fails the other redirects to fill in seamlessly (this not only applies to traffic systems).
3. At a Meta level Cloud computing also offers a conceptual framework in which parallel distributed units can solve problems by intelligent integration and working together cohesively where each component does their own bit.
- A distributed massive parallel means of solving infrastructural issues. (In some-ways eco-technology that seeks to recycle rainwater/generate renewable power can be considered a distributed means of solving infrastructural problems.)
- Disarticulate institutional structures and services into local parallel units embedded within an open framework allows for unprecedented local flexibility and regional level resilience.
Identify existing deficiencies in the infrastructural led Economic Development model.
- Use Existing Technology such as mobile technology. Data driven network.
- A system that potentially supports a City!
