Alex Beth Schapiro has worked for several grassroots organizations in New York and Baltimore, including an immigrant women’s group, a public-private partnership for child policy, founded a youth-designed urban arts program, and chaired the board of a youth-led grant foundation. She studied city planning at New York University’s Gallatin School. Her desire to expand her urban planning experience to the international arena and to learn Chinese brought her to Beijing in 2005. Alex currently works in a photography gallery in the Dashanzi 798 art district.
